Bowed Electric Guitar / Viola da Gamba

A multi-instrument performer, Scot Zoid (keyboards, viol family, guitar family and electric arpeggione) became a member of the Viola da Gamba Dojo of New York in 2010, where he currently studies with John Mark Rozendaal. This experience led him to found the Viola da Gamba Dojo of West Hempstead (NY) in 2013, which has six members and growing. Together with Ryan Closs (lute), he co-founded the West Hempstead Consort, an ensemble of early instrument performers. At present, he is Chair of the Local Outreach Committee of the Viola da Gamba Society of America and is a former board member of the Viola da Gamba Society of New York. Since 2008, Scott has held a position at the Malverne School of Music where he teaches viol, guitar, bass, ukelele, piano and music theory. As founder and proprietor of Scot Zoid Instruments, he builds and performs with electric viols, electric arepeggione and guitars.
