The Musicians Club of New York is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1911 by friends of Walter Damrosch, including musicians from the New York Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera, composers, impresarios, bankers and lawyers. The mission has remained essentially the same since its inception – to promote a high standard of musical art in all its branches, and to instill the values and enjoyment that the highest level of performance conveys to the American public and the world. It works toward fulfilling its mission through its renowned concert series (free and open to the public), its main competition, which cycles annually from piano to brass/winds to voice to strings (the Serge and Olga Koussevitzky Young Artist Awards), and its support of living composers (Koussevitzky International Recording Award and Composers Committee performances).
